Egypt consults with US on Gaza reconstruction conference

(MENAFN) Egyptian officials are in ongoing consultations with the United States regarding an international conference aimed at rebuilding the Gaza Strip following Israel’s two-year conflict in the region, according to reports.

Speaking alongside his German counterpart in Berlin, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said the talks with Washington are focused on setting a date for the event, which is expected to be co-chaired by Egypt and the US.

He also highlighted the broader regional humanitarian concerns, noting that “The situation in the West Bank is no less dire than that in the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the terror campaigns carried out by settlers against innocent civilians in the region.”
