Israeli forces raids Nablus, prepares for home demolitions
Witnesses stated that Israeli forces sealed the entrances to the Zawata roundabout and surrounding areas in western Nablus, forcibly evacuating several Palestinian families in preparation for demolishing their homes with explosives, citing security concerns.
The raids followed a Monday evening operation in Hebron, in the southern West Bank, which came after an Israeli soldier was injured in a car-ramming attack near the Kiryat Arba settlement.
Witnesses reported that Israeli forces entered Hebron from multiple directions, establishing checkpoints at city entrances, while news outlets noted the military stationed near several hospitals. The Israeli army stated that the individual responsible for the car-ramming attack was killed in Hebron.
These operations take place amid a notable surge in Israeli military and settler attacks on Palestinians, their property, and livelihoods across the West Bank. Since the escalation, reports indicate over 1,085 Palestinians have been killed, 10,700 injured, and more than 20,500 arrested.
In July last year, the International Court of Justice issued a landmark opinion declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
