Gaza Bleeds: Nine Palestinians Killed in Israeli Strikes

(MENAFN) Nine Palestinians, including three journalists, were killed Wednesday in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, marking the latest breach of the ceasefire, according to medical sources.

Officials reported that three people died in shelling in the central city of Deir al-Balah, three in Gaza City, and three in Khan Younis in the south.

Munir al-Bursh, the director-general of Gaza’s Health Ministry, told media, "three journalists were among those killed in the Israeli attacks in southern Gaza."

Witnesses said Israeli forces shelled eastern areas of Deir al-Balah, continuing what they described as daily violations of the ceasefire in place since Oct. 10. Airstrikes also hit neighborhoods in eastern Gaza City.

Local sources reported that two massive explosions shook northern Gaza and Gaza City after Israeli forces demolished remaining buildings and facilities east of the Sheikh Zayed area in the north.

Israeli naval vessels reportedly fired machine guns toward the Gaza City coastline, while helicopters and military vehicles opened fire on the city’s eastern districts.

In Khan Younis, southern Gaza, eyewitnesses said Israeli military vehicles targeted eastern neighborhoods with heavy gunfire.

The Israeli army maintains control over southern and eastern buffer zones in Gaza, as well as large portions of northern Gaza, occupying more than half of the territory.

Since the start of Israel’s military campaign on Oct. 8, 2023, which has lasted two years, more than 71,000 Palestinians have been killed, over 171,000 wounded, and roughly 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure destroyed.

Following the ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 483 Palestinians and wounded 1,287, while the blockade has severely restricted access to food, shelter, and medical aid for Gaza’s roughly 2.4 million residents.
