White House Eyes Gaza “Board of Peace” Summit
According to the report, the gathering is intended to serve both as the inaugural meeting of the board and as a donor-focused event centered on Gaza’s reconstruction. “It will be the first Board of Peace meeting and a fundraising conference for Gaza reconstruction,” Axios quoted a US official as saying.
The Trump administration has reportedly started contacting dozens of nations to extend invitations to leaders and to coordinate organizational details. As outlined by Axios, the summit is expected to take place at the Institute of Peace in Washington.
Although planning is underway, final arrangements have not yet been settled. "Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the administration is planning it and has started checking which leaders are able to attend," one source told Axios.
Separately, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to hold talks with US President Donald Trump on Feb. 18, one day ahead of the proposed summit. Netanyahu has agreed to Trump’s invitation for Israel to take part in the board, though he has not yet formally endorsed its charter.
Should Netanyahu attend the summit, it would represent his first public appearance alongside Arab and Muslim leaders since before the Oct. 7 attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, and Israel’s subsequent military assault on the Gaza Strip.
Officials cautioned that the summit’s arrangements are still at a preliminary stage and remain subject to change. The White House has declined to provide comment.
