Israeli Settlers Force Palestinian Families from Their Homes in West Bank
About 50 settlers, accompanied by a bulldozer and an Israeli military vehicle, reportedly attacked the village, demolishing homes made of tin and concrete. Residents were forced out, while settlers looted belongings, livestock, and vehicles, and prevented families from returning to their homes.
The displacement comes amid heightened Israeli operations across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, following the start of its military campaign in Gaza on October 8, 2023. Palestinians view these measures—including killings, arrests, displacements, and settlement expansion—as steps toward formal annexation of the territory.
According to the Palestinian government’s Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli military forces and settlers carried out 1,872 attacks on Palestinians and their property in January alone. These actions included physical assaults, uprooting trees, burning fields, restricting farmers’ access to land, seizing property, and demolishing homes and agricultural structures, resulting in the displacement of 125 families.
Official Palestinian figures indicate that the violence has left at least 1,112 people dead, around 11,500 injured, and more than 21,000 arrested.
On Sunday, Israel’s Security Cabinet approved measures aimed at altering the legal and civil framework in the West Bank to reinforce Israeli control over the territory.
Since its establishment in 1948, Israel has been accused of forcibly expelling hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and occupying remaining Palestinian territories, rejecting international calls to withdraw and allow the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
