Israeli Army Fire Kills Child in West Bank

(MENAFN) A Palestinian child died Thursday following Israeli military gunfire during an operation in Nablus city located in the northern West Bank, according to Palestinian media sources.

Official Palestine TV confirmed the child's death resulted from Israeli shooting, though specific circumstances surrounding the fatal incident remain unclear.

Local sources identified the victim to a Turkish news agency as Yousef Sameh Ashtayyeh, a resident from Tell town situated southwest of Nablus.

Israeli forces entered Nablus early Thursday morning, raiding a structure in the Rafidia neighborhood where troops conducted field interrogations with local residents.

Sources reported that Israeli military personnel discharged weapons while retreating from the city toward Beit Wazan area, striking a young man.

Medical authorities confirmed the wounded individual sustained live ammunition wounds to the shoulder and received hospital treatment for serious injuries.

Israeli military units routinely conduct operations throughout West Bank cities and towns, officially justifying raids as searches for "wanted" individuals.

Since genocide operations commenced in Gaza during October 2023, Israeli military actions across the occupied West Bank have resulted in approximately 1,153 Palestinian fatalities with thousands more wounded, according to official Palestinian statistics.

The escalating violence in the West Bank has occurred parallel to Gaza hostilities, with Palestinian territories experiencing intensified Israeli military presence and expanded settlement activities during the conflict period.
