Palestinian Man Succumbs to Injuries After Israeli Fire in Hebron

(MENAFN) A Palestinian man has died on Monday from wounds he sustained after being shot by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to the Health Ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said 32-year-old Mahmoud Ziad Al-Amleh was critically injured by Israeli army fire on Sunday near a separation barrier close to the town of Beit Ula, north of Hebron, before succumbing to his injuries a day later.

According to figures cited by the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, more than 50 Palestinian workers have been killed and over 38,000 detained by Israeli forces between October 2023 and May 1 of this year.

Since the beginning of the Gaza war, Palestinian workers have been barred from entering Israel for employment, leading some to attempt to cross the separation barrier despite the associated risks.

Israel maintains that the barrier was built for security purposes, while Palestinians and the UN argue it is part of a broader effort to annex Palestinian land.

In 2004, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion stating that the wall is illegal because it was constructed on occupied Palestinian territory.
